About 5000 villagers will no longer face travel problems during rainy days following the opening of a new crossing at Waibula, north of Taveuni.
In commissioning the event this morning, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka told villagers that Government would continue to carry out development projects for the good of the people.
And the $2.5million bridge at Waibula was one of it.
Nava’acoa village headman Mikaele Tawake said during every rainy day, the old crossing would disappear under water because it was built so low.
“Now traffic won’t get affected and will drive through the new crossing even during rainy days.”
