Police are calling on all motorists and road users to be vigilant after three people lost their lives in an accident along Valley Rd, Nacocolevu, Nadroga, on Monday afternoon.
Tevita Natoba, 30, Nairi Mosese, 44, and 40-year-old Keleto Labailasi died after the car they were travelling in with four others hit another vehicle head on.
“While we sympathise with the family, we are calling on all drivers to drive with more care and with that responsibility that your passengers’ lives are in your hands,” said Fiji police chief operations officer and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Livai Driu.
ACP Driu said police were concerned with the number of accidents occurring on our roads.
In a separate incident in Labasa, along Bulileke Road at Vatunibale on Monday night, a vehicle went off road and collided with a street light.
Because of the impact, seven passengers were injured, five were admitted in the hospital and two were treated and discharged.
The Police Head of Operations called on all drivers to be extra vigilant at this time because of the school holidays as many children would be around enjoying their break.
