Two leading non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Fiji, Foundation for the Education of Needy Children in Fiji (FENC Fiji) and Selfless Fiji, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to assist underprivileged children in Fiji.
FENC Fiji head of operations Nirmala Nambiar said this was a merger of two great minds to deliver on common objectives to assist the underprivileged children in Fiji.
“It is a timely journey where initiatives in the community mix and merge to create a vibrant environment and help the poorest of the poor children,” Ms Nambiar said.
“FENC Fiji is a national initiative, registered under the Charitable Trusts Act (Cap 67) to serve as voluntary, non-political, not for profit, cause-oriented organisation that would provide educational and related support to the children of the poorest of poor families in Fiji.
“Selfless Fiji is an NGO based in Fiji with volunteers who are willing to help the community in many ways as their main mission is to bring people together who are passionate about volunteering in the community of any shape or form.”
Ms Nambiar acknowledged the contribution of Selfless Fiji towards its objectives of assisting those in need of education – especially the children.
She is also calling on individuals keen to help others in a selfless way to contact either organisation for an opportunity to work as a volunteer.
“Volunteering is important because it enables individuals to help others in a selfless way.
“If you have ever considered contributing your time and skills to assist us with our community work, you can sign up to be a volunteer with Selfless Fiji.
“While we welcome Selfless Fiji volunteers, we know there are many others out there who can help FENC Fiji reach out and support the needy children in this community.”
