People should start reviving businesses in places like Raiwaqa — to change the image of how people perceive the area.

Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Lynda Tabuya highlighted this while opening Delightful Laundry – Fiji at Grantham Rd in Suva yesterday.

The laundry business is owned by Fijian born, Juhne Kamikamica, who resides in the United States of America.

The laundry will employ eight women and a man living with disability.

Ms Tabuya said Juhne had a heart for women and children and for the most vulnerable in Fiji.

“I am really excited about the number of women who are gaining employment from this location,” she said.

“There is a man living with disability who will be employed too, this gets to show that the business is an equal opportunity employer and I hope other business take the same path.”

Ms Tabuya said businesses didn’t survive often in Raiwaqa.

“I thank Juhne for not being deterred and bringing much needed productivity and commerce back in Raiwaqa.

“This area is often labelled as the hood, it depends on us to change the mindset.

“I thank the media for coming out, to take this message to the country and how we need to support each other no matter where we are located.”

The laundry is the second one for Juhne who initially opened the first laundry businesses two years ago at Khalsa Rd in Nasinu.
