A 10-year-old boy is admitted in hospital after he was allegedly hit by a government vehicle at a service station in Navua yesterday.
Police spokesman Wame Boutolu alleged the driver was drunk when the incident happened.
There were three passengers in the vehicle. The driver was a government worker.
He said the driver was taken in for questioning and is now in police custody.
“The driver was drunk and locked in a cell,” Mr Boutolu said.
“The vehicle was coming from a service station, it allegedly hit a 10-year-old boy who was standing along the driveway,” Mr Boutolu said.
“The boy was not seriously injured, he was taken to hospital and is still there for observation.”
He said one of the passengers in the vehicle had also sustained serious injuries and is still admitted in hospital.
Police investigation continues.
