2023 Tailevu Zone: Nasara out to claim gold

After failing to achieve his target of winning a gold medal in the Coca-Cola Games last year, Apisai Nasara of Queen Victoria School will be seeking redemption come the 2023 Coca-Cola Games at the end of this month.

The 16-year-old bagged a gold medal for his school in the junior boy’s 200m final during the Tailevu Zone at he HFC Bank Stadium yesterday.

“I came third in the 200m event at the Coca-Cola Games last year and I told myself that I will need to make a comeback next year,” the Agriculture student said.

When asked what motivated him toward his goal, Nasara said he wanted to honour the legacy left behind by former students of QVS.

“I just want to make all our old boys proud. I just have so much pride and respect for the school that I want to be a part of the school’s legacy.”

The Serua lad also plays rugby and dons the number nine jersey as he prefers to play as a halfback.

“Training at school in the past few weeks has been very tough as we are also preparing for the Vodafone Deans Trophy competition later this year and our training for the Coke Games should keep us in shape before it starts.”

Nasara thanked all QVS supporters and fans for supporting and encouraging the athletes over the past few days.

“Just want to say vinaka vakalevu to all our supporters who took the time out to cheer for us the athletes.”
