Lelean Memorial School was crowned the new Triple N Zone boys’ division winners after dethroning former champions Nakasi High School at the HFC Bank Stadium this afternoon.
The Davuilevu boys scooped 16 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze medals, while the girls from Adi Cakobau School took out the girl’s division with 35 gold, 22 silver and 15 bronze medals.
Last year’s boys champion Nakasi High School secured second place with 13 gold, 9 silver and 8 bronze, followed by Wainimala Secondary School with 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze.
Coming in at second place for the girl’s division was Naitasiri Secondary School with 6 gold, 3 silver and 8 bronze, while Lomaivuna High School bagged 2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze.
A total of 1563 athletes participated in this year’s zone meet from the 19 participating schools.
Lelean Memorial School coach Viliame Kotoilakeba said the school a had plan to win, and “they got it”.
Kotoilakeba said since losing to Nakasi High School last year, they worked extra hard.
The athletes will now prepare for the Coca Cola Games that will be held from April 27-29.
