The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School’s dream run in the Vodafone Trophy South-Eastern Zone Secondary School’s Rugby League continues.
The MGM Dragons upset Queen Victoria School Knights 18-14 in the semi-final of the Under-17 grade at the St Marcellin Primary School grounds in Vatuwaqa, Suva on Saturday.
QVS Knights started on a high and scored the first try of the match.
MGM Dragons replied with two unanswered tries to lead 12-4 at half-time. MGM started the second spell just the way they ended the first, scoring in the opening few minutes to extend the lead to 18-4.
QVS came back with two more tries of their own, but it was a little too late as MGM booked a spot in the final.
MGM High School principal Sanjay Raman was impressed with the performance of his team.
“QVS was a very good team, and they gave us a good battle, but our boys stood strong and held on gallantly for the win,” he said.
“The boys have done a marvelous job; they have made the school proud. We thank our sponsors and all the well-wishers who were there during the game. Looking forward to the final.”
MGM Dragons will meet Nasinu Panthers in the final. Nasinu Panthers thumped Marist Storms 34-nil.
