Christians around the country celebrated Palm Sunday yesterday to mark the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

Methodist Church of Fiji and Rotuma secretary of the Evangelism Department Reverend Iliesa Koroi said Christians across the country always looked forward to celebrating Palm Sunday.

“This is a week where we get to celebrate our children and the significant role they played in the Bible,” he said.

“It is important that we instil the teachings of Christ in them and only through that they will be able to find the true meaning of life.”

The day was an even special one as services in most respective churches were held by children.

Palm Sunday is a Christian celebration that marks the beginning of the Holy Week leading to Easter Sunday.

The celebration involves singing hymns, reading scriptures, and even a procession with the palms.
