Sale Tubuna has put his hands up to help the Fiji 7s team.
The Fiji Police 7s club coach has been proving his record in the local arena.
Tubuna spent eight years as a development officer with the Fiji National Rugby League before joining the champion 7s club.
He said he was ready if the nation called him to help out the Fiji 7s team.
“Every coach in Fiji has their dreams of one day coaching the national team, ask any coach, we have the same dream,” Tubuna said.
“To be a good coach, you need to first discipline yourself, you have to set a standard for it to flow to the players.”
He said he had learned that he needed to trust himself first before he put his trust in the players.
“You have to have the guts in throwing players who have been performing in local tournaments to the deep sea.
“Take that risk, take that 50-50 chance of the vast talent that is here.
“We need to fix some positions that are not functioning in the national 7s team.”
He said as a coach, before a tournament, through his assessment during the training session, he would know the type of play they would play.
“For now until the Hong Kong 7s, there can be no more loading of fitness to the players,” he said.
He said when you build a good culture in the team, you will reap good results.
“You need to instill discipline in the players for them to maintain that when they go out and play on the big stage.
“Make your players realise that their positions in the team are not permanent unless they carry their discipline with them — on and off the field.”
