The Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team will miss the services of forward Jeremaia Matana for the upcoming HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in Hong Kong and Singapore tournaments.

Matana sustained arm fracture during the group stage of the Vancouver 7s.

He was substituted in the 14-17 shock loss against Uruguay.

Fijian 7s coach Ben Gollings said the team returned pretty healthy from Canada and the only worry was with Matana.

“There are a few knocks and bruises but the only one who is out is Jeremaia,” Gollings said.

“He broke his arm sadly but he is being looked after well. Jeremaia is getting sorted out and will then get here.

“He will not be available for Hong Kong and Singapore but may be available for the last few tournaments.

“When things like that happen overseas, we get the players sorted out there. “So when Jeremaia gets back, then he will have his recovery.

“He had his operation last week which is good news for us.”
