For the first time participating in the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League Southern Zone competition, Wainimala Warriors aimed to gain as much knowledge on the sport as possible.

Coach Chris Waqa said they were here to test their players’ capabilities and also how they can hold themselves when pressured on the field.

“Since this is the first time they are taking part, we are taking it one step at a time,” he said.

“We just want to have the players feel the atmosphere playing in the secondary school competition.

“We are here to learn, gain more knowledge on the sport.

“A win will come sooner or later, but we are here just to learn and enjoy ourselves in the company of other schools.”

Waqa said they fielded only the under-19 team, but they hope once everything runs smoothly they can get in the other two grades.
