The Fiji Performing Rights Association (FIPRA) organised a freedom march yesterday to celebrate the Coalition Government victory.
“The idea was formed when a group of friends got together to celebrate the victory of the new Government,” said FIPRA president Eremasi Tamanisau.
“This march is to signify the change that we need after 16 years of oppression and basically now it feels that the shackles have finally broken altogether.
“It’s been a great burden, a great wait and a very oppressive climate and now the people are just expressing their joy, exhilaration and exuberance at all this – freedom at last.”
He said it was nice to see people at three different important events yesterday.
“One was for the cleaning up of the CWMH which is in a terrible state, second was for the homecoming for Professor Brij Lal and the freedom march was the third one.
“Just being able to have these events on the same day is overwhelming.”
Mr Tamanisau said those who were not present physically for the march were with them in spirit.
“We would like to thank and bless all those who have supported this particular march. May God bless our Government because from now it will just be years and years of happiness.”
