Sugar Minister Charan Jeath Singh says he stands by his statement that former Fiji Sugar Corporation executive chairman and CEO Abdul Khan was paid about $820,000 per annum.
He dismissed comments made by Mr Khan in an article in The Fiji Times last week where the former executive chairman and CEO labeled Mr Singh’s comments as “grossly overstated”.
Mr Khan also said Mr Singh “should verify the correct annual salary and donate the balance to worthy charities in Fiji.”
Mr Singh said everything he said was true.
“I refer to the comments made by former executive chair and CEO of FSC, Abdul Khan in an article which appeared in The Fiji Times on February on his remuneration package while employed by FSC and I stand by my earlier statement that he was paid approximately $820,000-00 per annum excluding other benefits such as housing and vehicle,” the Sugar Minister said.
“I say this in full confidence as I have all documentation with me to prove what I had said and Mr Khan can verify these facts if he so wishes.”
Mr Singh said on the issue of the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption investigations, he was waiting for FICAC to get back to him.
“I will expect a brief from FICAC soon as I am concerned why it has taken so long to conclude this case.”
