Update: 4:38PM ONE in four people suffer from mental illness, says Fiji National University’s Dean of the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Professor Ian Rouse.
He says according to the World Health Organisation that figure is for the world
but the problem in Fiji is identifying people with such cases.
“The thing
is that if we can detect mental illness and treat it and then people can
recover from anxiety, depression. People may be surprised but the WHO has said
that depression is the leading cause of disability in the world,” Professor Rouse
said.
