Fiji Bati forward and famous Storm enforcer Tui Kamikamica cemented his place in the club as he signed a two-year extension which will see him remain in Melbourne until at least the end of the 2025 season, foxsports.com.au reported.
Kamikamica, 28, has been part of the top 17 players over the past two seasons. He has played 17 Tests for Fiji including two world cups.
“Storm was the first club to allow me playing in the NRL. It’s always an honour and a dream come true to pull on the purple jersey,” Kamikamica said in a club statement.
The Somosomo, Taveuni giant made his NRL debut with the Storm in 2017 and played 70 games in the famous purple jersey.
“To be able to stay here for a couple more years to come is very pleasing for me and my family in Fiji,” the former Queen Victoria School student said.
“I’ve also got some very good mates here, especially Juzzy (Olam) and Nelson (Asofa-Solomona), so I’m happy I get to spend some more time with them over the next couple of years.”
Kamikamica who was previously stood down by the club after he was charged by Queensland Police over an alleged incident involving a woman outside a Brisbane hotel, will now also get the opportunity to play 100 games for the Melbourne club, as long as he stays injured free with a back injury keeping him sidelined for most of 2020.
“As long as I can stay injury-free, and play week-in, week-out, that’s the aim for myself – to play 100 games,” he said. “And to play 100 games for Melbourne Storm would be a huge honour.”
