Residents of Lautoka and Nadi took advantage of the last day of the New Year’s celebrations by spending it at popular picnic spots.
Families and friends gathered at Saweni Beach in Lautoka and Wailoaloa Beach in Nadi to catch the last few rays of sunshine before the rainy conditions returned.
According to weather forecasters, a heavy rain alert remained in place for Yasawa, Mamanuca and the interior and western parts of Viti Levu.
The rainy conditions are expected to clear up on Wednesday.
