Fiji’s total sales for the September quarter of 2022 stood at $1,486.3 million, an increase by 63.9 per cent or $579.6m when compared with the September quarter of 2021.
The Fiji Bureau of Statistics released the Total Wholesale and Retail Trade Sales for the September quarter of 2022.
According to the bureau the survey covers registered businesses engaged in Wholesale and Retail Trade; Repair of Motor Vehicles and Motor Cycles that accounts for 80 per cent of total turnover in this business sector.
It said the statistics provided the bureau with a short-term indicator of the industry’s performance.
The bureau noted an increase by 14 per cent or $182.6m in total sales when compared with the June quarter of 2022.
Compared with the September quarter of 2021, food, beverages and tobacco increased by 19.5 per cent ($79m), motor vehicle increased by 61.9 per cent ($23.9m), automotive fuel increased by 161.8 per cent ($351.5m) while hardware items increased by 29 per cent ($23.4m).
