The Vodafone Fiji Bati side has slipped to seventh on the official International Rugby League (IRL) world rankings.

The Josaia Rabele coached side bowed out at the quarterfinal stages of the recent Rugby League World Cup in England. Fiji lost to New Zealand 24-18 in the quarter-final.

Samoa was one of the biggest climbers, moving from seventh position to third position. World champions Australia, who was previously ranked fourth, moved to number one.

The rankings are calculated on each nation’s performance over the current season and the three preceding seasons.

Points are awarded to each team for each match and the points are then used to create the official World Rankings by ordering the teams by virtue of the points gained over the four-year period.

Only officially sanctioned matches played at a senior level between two approved members are considered as part of the rankings.
