Lessons learnt through hard times must never be forgotten, as in the midst of adversities lie opportunities.

The Fiji Times board chairman Kirit Patel said this in his annual Christmas message, adding the holidays were the best time to be with friends and families.

“It is a time for families, friends, loved ones and those less fortunate to come together in a spirit of sharing, caring and love for one another,” he said.

“We must remember that there is no blessing richer than the love of family and friends.”

He encouraged all to embrace the spirit of hope and the promise of forgiveness that the birth of Jesus represented.

“The festival of Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and conveys his message of love, tolerance and brotherhood. It is a celebration of humanity and mankind.

“The other faiths in Fiji join their Christian brothers and sisters to celebrate because the Christmas message is for everyone.

“We must take Christmas as an opportunity to also review our success, triumphs, and achievements. Let us also consider how we can be a blessing individually and collectively to our people who are facing hardship this Christmas.

“We should reflect on values of love, service, and companion. I believe through this the light will continue to shine and overshadow darkness. This Christmas message should be our beacon and guiding light as we move forward.

“Let us look to each other for support and give each other solace during these final days of 2022 and beyond.

“This Christmas I hope you all will find some comfort and reassurance.

“May God bless each and every one of us. And may he continue to bless our beloved Fiji.

“I, together with our senior management team and The Fiji Times family thank all our readers, advertisers, suppliers and friends for all your support in 2022 and take this opportunity to extend my warmest greetings and the best wishes for this Christmas.”
