Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) campaign director Jope Koroisavou has been taken in for questioning at the CID headquaters at Toorak in Suva.
He is still being questioned by police.
It is believed Mr Koroisavou was taken in custody in relation to his live video call on his social media Facebook to party members and supporters this morning to petition the party’s management board on the direction it should take and who to form a coalition with.
Fijians had gathered in numbers this morning to sign the petition at the Fijian Teachers Association building.
He said he organised the petition to submit to the management board before the 2pm scheduled meeting.
Mr Koroisavou said he hoped the petition would change the minds of the board.
