Two political party candidates who turned up to vote at polling stations in the Sugar City yesterday were happy with the voter turnout.
After casting her vote, National Federation Party’s Sashi Kiran said she had been receiving images of voters lining up to vote from as early as 6am.
“It’s very exciting to see people have actually chosen to get up very early in the morning to queue up to vote,” she said.
“That’s amazing to see and that people want real democracy back.
“We are very hopeful that there’s going to be great turnout for voting and that there’s going to be great results,” Ms Kiran said.
Also casting vote in Lautoka yesterday was People’s Alliance party candidate Jese Saukuru who had been assisting polling agents in the Sugar City yesterday before casting his vote.
“Today has been a great turnout and I know by this time tomorrow we will know who will be our leader,” he said.
“During my campaign period we’ve felt that there’s a wind of change blowing. But it all depends on the people. “We believe in our people and we feel that they are going to voice their decision in today’s elections.
“In the next few hours we expect a lot of miracles happening.”
