LAUTOKA has roped in Ghanaian-born attacking forward Derek Tieku to add firepower to its strike force for the All in One Cakes and Restaurant 2022 Pacific Community Cup which will be played in Nadi next week.
Tieku joined the Fulham under-18 side in England in 2012 and then moved to the Crystal U18 team on loan in the same year.
He returned to Fulham the following year before joining the Crystal Palace U21 side. From 2014 to 2016 Tieku played for various lower division clubs in England before signing up with Eastern Suburbs in New Zealand.
He moved to Hamilton Wanderers in 2018. Solomon Islanders Gagame Feni and Molis Junior Gagame will also boost the All in One Cakes and Restaurant, Design Marine Services and HyperChem Pharmacy sponsored Blues.
Feni represented Suva in 2019.
Lautoka won the Pacific Community Cup back to back in 2018 and 2019.
The Sugar City side is in a tough group with Labasa, Suva and New Zealand Fiji Football Incorporated (NZFFI) All Stars.
Ironically Lautoka defeated NZFFI in the final in 2018 and then downed Labasa in the 2019 final.
Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Mohammed Yusuf said teams can register six guest players.
“But four can only be registered in the 18 member list for each game,” he said.
“No International Transfer Certificate (ITC) required since it is a social community tournament.”
The Pacific Community Cup will be played at Prince Charles Park from November 24-27.
Ticket prices are $7 for adults and $3 for children $1 per ticket will be contributed to the WOWS Kids fund as part of Fiji FA’s corporate and social responsibility.
