Nadi Town will mark its 75th anniversary with a weeklong festival beginning this Saturday (November 19).

According to Nadi Town Council special administrator chair Lawrence Kumar, about $50,000 has been budgeted for the event.

He said the festival would be held at Koroivolu Park from November 19 to 26 and would showcase a range of activities to mark the jet set town’s milestone achievement.

“There is a lot of hype around the festival already,” Mr Kumar said.

“We hope to have good weather during this period.”

Nadi Town Council special administrator Sanjit Patel said starting as a very small town with a few wooden buildings and basic services, Nadi had developed into a major tourist centre in Fiji.

The 75th anniversary celebration chair Asinate Dawai said they were preparing “a grand festival for the people of Nadi to enjoy”.

“The theme speaks for itself, ‘For a resilient Nadi — Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’,” she said.

“The people of Nadi stood together in partnership despite the impacts of natural hazards such as flooding, cyclones and also the impact of COVID-19.” || EDT – West || THE Nadi Town Council (NTC) would be holding a wee
