Vodafone Fiji Bati youngest player Joshua Wong is grateful to be given the opportunity to play for his country.
The 19-year-old was born in New Zealand and has ties to Nairai in Lomaiviti and Tonga.
He arrived in the country on Monday and it was his first time to be in his home country.
“The journey for me has been a learning experience, playing together with some of the well known players in the NRL,” he said.
“Being the youngest player, the boys showed me the way, helped me adapt well in to the camp and getting to know the players it was a great experience.
“I made sure I used the opportunity to learn as much as I can from the older players such as Viliame Kikau, Api Koroisau as I am still fresh in to the competition and making my way in to the professional environment.
“I was able to learn a lot not just the sporting side but my traditions and culture as well. It was so special for me because playing from club rugby with your friends and then you wear the national jersey and play for your nation, is something that I will always remember.
“I am looking forward to the next world cup and my plan is to get my NRL debut for the Sydney Roosters and keep working hard.”
