Pacific Islands Art (PIA) is perhaps the best known fashion label in the Pacific, and can be seen worn by prominent Pacifica people all over the world.
This incredibly well-regarded label which was founded in Tahiti, found its way to Fiji, and has called Lautoka home for many years, with established retail locations around Fiji, the Pacific, and more recently in Brisbane, Australia.
It is a family affair, with the label being completely run by members of the single family, who bring their heritage and culture to all their design elements.
PIA is one of the original design houses to show at the highly prestigious Style Fiji event, and returns for its 10th edition, this year at the Sofitel Ballroom.
When was PIA founded, and who were the originators of the brand?
Pacific Islands Art Ltd was created in November 2009 by Pierre Guyot and Tehau Guyot — whom directors of the growing family business. We decided to call Fiji home, recognising it as the hub of the Pacific, from where we facilitate exports all around the world.
Your prints are traditional Tahitian block prints – do the prints tell stories? Each print is crafted and inspired by nature. Flowers, trees, leaves and others. So yes, each of them have a deep traditional meaning about our Tahitian culture, ancestors and more.
What are you looking forward to at Style Fiji’s 10th show, and what can we expect from your collection this year?
This year, our collection is all about MODERN STYLE.
We are combining our traditional hand printing practices with a contemporary drift, whilst keeping our Tahitian sophistication.
We will also be showcasing our first ever Sublimation collection consisting of board/beach shorts, and matching pairs, as well as a few Women pieces.
We are very excited to be a part of this 10th year of Style Fiji, and feel privileged to be doing this in support of the Cancer Society of Fiji, to bring awareness about this awful disease around our beautiful Fiji.
Enthusiasm is definitely the catchword for this year’s “Styling Tomorrow” themed collection we have organised, with a lot of passion for you guys to absolutely love.
