The proceedings at the High Court in Suva against radio personality Paula “Ouch Mama” Nabuta were discontinued yesterday.
State prosecutor Zennith Zunaid filed a nolle prosequi, discontinuing the proceedings against Mr Nabuta in the drugs case against him and one Joji Kaitani.
The matter was called before High Court judge Justice Salesi Temo.
On Monday, Justice Temo gave Mr Zunaid time until yesterday to prepare the summary of facts in the case and inform the court regarding the Director of Public Prosecutions position on Mr Nabuta’s prosecution in the matter after identifying serious flaws in the case and evidentiary issues.
Mr Nabuta thanked God while telling The Fiji Times of his ordeal and how his family welcomed the decision.
“I met so many hardships along the way including being unemployed for a while because of some of the wrong decisions that were made,” he said.
“I had been thinking a lot about my kids and this case has given me another opportunity to learn and go back to what I was doing before. I faced a lot of hardships during the trial but I’m thankful that I’m able to go back home now.”
He thanked his lawyer Gavin O’Driscoll for fighting his case and wished Mr Kaitani all the best.
