Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua lock-forward Asinate Serevi has set sight on a place in the Fijiana Drua squad for the next season.
Returning to Fiji after her first outing with the national 15s side from the women’s RWC, the daughter of sevens legend Waisale Serevi could only describe her rugby journey so far as an “amazing experience”.
“I thank God for the opportunity to be able to play at the world stage,” the 27-year-old shared at the Nadi International Airport.
“It’s been an amazing experience for all the girls, we went in to have fun as a team, we went in ranked 21 and as a team we did really well going into the first world cup for Fijiana.
“I’m proud of the girls, it’s not the result we wanted but losing to bigger teams and we played top teams and we did well.”
Nate, as she is fondly known, said being given the captaincy role in the game against South Africa was humbling for her and she couldn’t have done it better without the girls who made it easier for her.
She said they worked well together and had fun doing it at such a level of competitive.
For now, Nate plans to return home to the United States to her family and work a bit after graduating with a degree in Law and Justice from the Central Washington University a couple of years back.
“I’m planning to join the Drua team; I’ll try make that squad for the next season.
“I’m just grateful for the opportunity, for them believing in me, the FRU and all the girls, I’m humbled.
“I also thank them for welcoming me into the team.
“It has been a big responsibility, with dad who represented Fiji and I wanted to represent my homeland as well and I came in and did that with a lot of fun with a group of girls and that was a lot of fun.”
Nate and the Fijiana 15s side arrived in Fiji from Auckland, New Zealand last Tuesday after bowing out of the women’s RWC.
