Golden boy of Fiji Boxing Sakaraia Ve wants the trainers to accredit themselves to train local boxers better.

Ve, who was the main guest during the South Pacific Boxing Promotions program at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday, said he had been quiet over the last 40 years.

SPBP recognised Ve for his commitment by supporting him to raise funds to build his house.

“They want to help me and I feel good,” Ve said.

“Some people are recognising me. For about 40 years I have been keeping quiet.

“I like watching boxing, but what I see now is that the trainers need to be naught more about the sport. The trainers need to be better educated in boxing.

“The boxers are just running around in the ring. Before, there were better boxers when I came into the ring.

“But I got my skills that got me through alone. I don’t know why the boxers in Fiji don’t have those skills now. It should start from the amateur level.”

Ve holds a record of 62 wins, 18 losses and seven draws.
