Abid Hussain and Mohammed Rizwan took out the Smugglers Cove Beach Resort and Ramada Suites-sponsored Fiji Amateur Foursomes Championship at the New Town Course in Nadi yesterday.
Hussain and Rizwan beat defending champions Rohit Chandra and Asish Chand by five shots to lift the title.
They carded 76 and 75 for a total of 151 in the 36 holes event. Chandra and Chand settled for second spot after scoring 77 and 79 for a total of 156.
Homeboys Ryan Kumar and Joe Drauna finished third with a total of 159 after scoring 81 in the first round and 78 in the second round.
Rizwan said the course conditions proved to be difficult after the dry spell.
“All the players struggled on the greens because the ball was just running,” he said.
“For us, we made five three putts which just shows how tough it was to sink the ball in.”
Meanwhile the 2022 Nadi Open jointly sponsored by Coca-Cola Amatil, Paradise Beverages and Complete Insurance Services will be held at the New Town Course on November 20.
