Pacific sprint king Banuve Tabakaucoro is all set for his first of two events at the 2022 Commonwealth Games which starts in England with the Opening Ceremony tonight.

Tabakaucoro will compete in the 100m and 200m events scheduled for August 3.

“I am excited to be getting into this type of schedule where we are having regular competitions. It is pretty interesting with the first event next week, so I’m looking forward to it,” the Bau-bullet said.

The 29-year-old is focused on his first event, which will determine whether he takes part in the second one.

He said injury would be a concern considering the number of competitions he participated in this season.

“It’s been a while since we have got into this type of schedule which involves a lot of competitions and travelling, so it’s taking a bit of a toll on my body, so I’ll see how it goes.

“After the 100m, we will make a decision whether I’ll do the 200m or not, but it’s all about finishing the season injury free.”

The former Marist Brothers High School champion would be competing at his second Commonwealth Games, his first being the Glasgow Games in Scotland in 2014.
