Indian Super League side Bengaluru FC have completed the signing of Roy Krishna on a free transfer, according to a report by the Indian Football Team-For World Cup.
Krishna was one of the first high-profile players to move from the A-League to India when he joined ATK FC in 2019 and finished as the top scorer in only his first season.
Under ATK coach Antonio Habas, he also won the trophy in his debut season.
He later signed with ATK Mohun Bagan, which made its ISL debut in 2020 and has since scored 24 goals for the club in two seasons across league and cup competitions.
Following the confirmation of Krishna’s departure from ATK Mohun Bagan last month, the 34-year-old revealed that he had not made the decision to leave Bagan on his own.
According to the Indian Football Team-For World Cup website, Krishna had a strong friendship with Prabir Das, who Bengaluru FC had previously confirmed to sign for the club.
For the past three years, Das and Krishna have played together at ATK and ATK Mohun Bagan.
The report added that this time, however, the formidable duo will be seen in new colours.
Cleiton Silva, Bengaluru FC’s top scorer from the previous campaign, has not had his contract extended, and Krishna seems to be the chosen one to replace him.
The report said Krishna’s arrival would be one of the biggest of this transfer window since The Blues have the services of a proven goal-scorer who can win matches single-handedly.
