The Tailevu Rugby Union marketing team signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Fexco Fiji Ltd last week to try and improve the union.
TRU marketing president Ratu Filimoni Cakobau said the idea was to promote Tailevu rugby as a brand.
“Being a former player, we know why this is important because you playing for Tailevu locally and abroad,” he said.
“The MOU will boost the performance of all the five Tailevu teams and will help each player play at his or her best.”
The agreement will help develop the Tailevu team and rugby development in the province.
“With just the mention of the Tailevu slogan which is Push Tailevu Bili, we want to bring that momentum back and the players will benefit from it financially.”
The committee is looking for assistance in sponsorships of each player in the Tailevu team. Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is the TRU patron. Tailevu lost 23-29 to Naitasiri in their Skipper Cup fixture on Saturday at the Naluwai ground.
