Two Tailevu schools stamped their marks in the finals of the Vodafone South Eastern Secondary Schools Rugby League competition at the St Marcellin Primary School grounds in Vatuwaqa, Suva yesterday.

The Queen Victoria School Knights beat Ratu Kadavulevu School Eels 14-10 in the under-15 grade final while the Eeels beat Marist Brothers High School Storms 24-20 in the under-17 final.

RKS under-17 captain Seremaia Tuiqamea said they had to pull up their trumps on defence in the close encounter the Storm.

“Our coach reminded us during the half-time that we will need to toughen up our defence,” he said.

“Playing in the final is a different atmosphere altogether because the game was tough.

“Everybody wants to win and it’s not always easy playing against a team like Marist.”

Marist Storm led 12-10 at half-time.

The best player award was given to Eparama Kikau of Marist Storm.

QVS Knights beat Nasinu Panthers 20-5 in the third-fourth play-off.

In the under 15 grade, the best player was awarded to Isikeli Bari of QVS.

Marist Storms beat Nasinu Panthers 18-10 for the third and fourth position.
