Unsigned singers and songwriters have until June 14 to enter the Domo Vou Talei competition and go into the running to win $5000, courtesy of The Fiji Times.
The original song contest is an initiative of the Australian High Commission and the 10 finalists will get the opportunity to showcase their musical masterpieces at the Uprising Musical Festival on July 9 in Pacific Harbour.
Knox Entertainment director Inoke Kalounisiga said his company was proud to offer the finalists a platform to showcase their original music.
“For us, it’s all about developing the next generation of artists, so we are very grateful for the opportunity to do that, and I would urge all the songwriters out there to put pen to paper, record their song and send their entry in,” he said.
The Fiji Times general manager Christine Lyon said the newspaper’s role in the Domo Vou Talei competition was to ensure that the next generation of untapped talent was “given the platform they need to take their sound and their voice to the world”.
“We will achieve that by utilising our renowned brand as a newspaper that the Fijian people have confidence in, and a digital platform that receives an incredible amount of traffic by people from all across the world,” she said.
