The Fijian Elections Office will not hesitate to take appropriate action against elections officials not following their code of conduct.
While speaking at the opening of the Presiding Officers Training in Lautoka yesterday, Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said being apolitical was an important aspect of a polling station officer’s work.
“In 2018, we replaced staff from an entire polling station simply because in the morning of the election there was a social media post by them which we regarded was not apolitical,” he said.
“We will do that again.”
He said they should avoid the hassle of being asked to leave a polling station.
“Simply follow the procedure and you have to be on the dot follow the code of conduct.”
