Review on regional cluster initiative project

THE conclusion of a review of the regional cluster initiative project in the Western Division focused on outlining the future direction of cluster developments in the Pacific region.

The two-day workshop, which was recently held in Nadi, reviewed four cluster pilot projects in Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu.

“Think how a robust, self-dependent, credible private sector will look like for the region and how each of you can play a part towards this goal,” said deputy head of delegation of the European Union for the Pacific Johnny Engell-Hansen.

He said the Business Climate Facility (BizClim), a program of the EU and African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States (ACP) Secretariat, was funding the initiative.

“BizClim is only an avenue for the private sector to grow. Sustaining the growth will be the greatest challenge,” he said.
