Plantation Island Resort and Lomani Island Resort in Malolo welcomed its first guests for the first time in two years.
The two resorts owned by Raffe Hotels and Resorts welcomed guests from Australia, New Zealand and the United States yesterday.
Plantation Island Resort general manager Alex Wilson said for two years people’s careers were put on hold.
“For two years as well some of our staff were burdened financially so to have the resort open again not only means we are welcoming our guests back but we also have our staff back at work,” he said.
“So its really an emotional time for us because seeing their faces light up and in high spirits it really brings us closer together and also brings us closer to our guests who are the reason we are open again.”
He said the resort had exciting months ahead for their guests.
“We had one of the highest booking rates ever recorded and we are just overwhelmed by the amount of guests that are wanting to come to Plantation.
“Its really great to see and we are truly grateful to be able to open like this and we are really looking forward to the next few months.”
Raffe Hotels and Resorts CEO Bradley Robinson said it was a great day for the hotel group as they welcomed guests back to Plantation and Lomani Island Resort.
“The plan was always to open on April, 2022, when we saw an inkling of borders reopening in December last year,” he said.
“Since then it’s been about preparation and about getting the resort and our people ready for the reopening,” he said.
“It’s a great feeling to be back here and to see guests and our staff reconnecting again after such a long time.”
