Tokyo Olympic Games bronze medallist Rusila Nagasau expects the Fijiana Drua to do their best in a bid to win their debut Buildcorp Super W fixture against the Melbourne Rebels in Australia this afternoon.

Nagasau is not new to the full code having captained the Fijiana XV team during the 2018 Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship.

Under her guidance, the Fijiana XV won the title making a cleansweep in the round robin competition which was held at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The side beat Tonga 53-8, thrashed Papua New Guinea 96-0 and downed Samoa 43-12.

Nagasau, 34, is part of the Fijiana XV extended squad for the Rugby World Cup which will be played in New Zealand from October 8 to November 12.

“This is the first time for the team to play in a high level competition, so it is a big milestone,” Nagasau said.

“I wish them all the best and I know that they will do their best to try to win the match.”

Nagasau said her priority now was to concentrate on women’s 7s.

“I’m focusing on the Fijiana 7s’ team preparations,” Nagasau said.

“I want to play in the Commonwealth Games and the Rugby World Cup Sevens, but if given the chance to play for the Fijiana XV at the Rugby World Cup, then I’m willing to.”
