Covenant Blue hopes to improve on their game in the next round of the Suva Rugby Union’s Digicel club championship.

Despite winning their first game against DHL Raiwaqa 25-17 at Buckhurst ground yesterday, there was still room for improvement.

Club secretary Uliano Kataiwai said they had a young and determined side and they hoped to keep pushing their players to play their own style of rugby.

“We are grateful that the competition is back and we can finally get back to the field and play the sport that we all love,” he said.

“For us, training has been intense. It is all about training the body, training the mind but the most important thing is the training of players’ soul spiritually.

“When you train the heart to follow the rules, follow one voice, you can see everything falls into place.

“Since this is our first game, we are grateful to start this season with a win. It was a tough match against Raiwaqa and they gave us a good run.”

Kataiwai said there were some areas they would need to work on.

“We have a very tough defence, but what we lack is our passing and our attack. I am sure we will go back and address those areas and when we return next week.”
