Ministry of Health and Medical Services permanent secretary Dr James Fong says there is a sustained downward trend in daily COVID-19 hospitalisations.
He says 17 of the admissions of COVID-19 positive patients are categorised as asymptomatic and mild and two are severe.
“Anyone admitted to the hospital is tested before admission, therefore, a significant number of people are admitted to the hospital for non-COVID health conditions, but incidentally, test positive due to the high amount of transmission in the community,” Dr Fong said.
He said the number of people being admitted because of COVID-19 remained low.
Dr Fong said 161 tests had been reported for February 17.
He said the total cumulative tests since 2020 were 495,355 tests.
