Promoter Freddy Chand confirmed that SPBP would be hosting the programs in a busy new boxing schedule for 2022.
“The tentative plan is to have five boxing programs for the year,” Chand said.
“We’re certain of holding four big shows lined up for 2022 though.
“SPBP will deliver fights from elite professional boxers in the country.
“We want to refresh our boxing programs and brand with the sole aim of offering fight fans unparalleled access to the sport’s leading pound-for-pound boxers.
“It will be an exciting mix of elite-level and emerging boxers for the boxing fans to watch.”
He hinted at some big names in local professional boxing, who would be appearing in the respective programs and they included heavyweight boxing champion of Fiji James Singh, Jese Ravudi, Eroni Ligaloa, Alifereti Kauyaca, Joseph Kwadjo, Sebastian Singh and Abhay Chand.
Chand said the majority of the proposed boxing programs would be staged in the Western Division.
“We’ve got all the dates confirmed.
“The first three programs will be held in the tourist town of Nadi at Prince Charles Park on January 29, April 2 and August 12, respectively.
“In hindsight, we’ve managed to lock in three dates and venues at the moment.
“We’re contemplating staging the fourth and biggest boxing program in either Ba or the capital city, possibly in the month of October.
“SPBP is committed to supporting professional boxing in the country.”
The former cruiserweight pugilist-turned promoter stated that SPBP was looking for generous corporate sponsors in an effort to launch a successful boxing season.
Meanwhile, the first confirmed professional boxing program for the year under the SPBP-banner is slated to be held at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday, January 29.
