Villagers of Naceva in Beqa recently received items from the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Fiji to help improve their livelihood.

The assistance was possible through ADRA’s COVID-19 sustainable livelihood support through funding support from the United States Agency for International Development.

“Words cannot express how grateful we are for the assistance we are receiving today (yesterday),” said Women Group Leader Sereani Nagatalevu.

“We came with our chief from the island this morning for the handover and we are going home with lots of items to support us. These are items we cannot afford and we extend our sincere appreciation to ADRA Fiji for considering our request and to the donors for their support.”

The main objective of the project is to assist civil society organisations, communities and families in the Pacific to be better prepared for and able to respond to outbreaks of COVID-19, and can mitigate the risk of transmission and socio-economic impacts.

Items received included fishing nets, fishing line and hooks, diving torch with batteries, dive mask set, cooking knife, digging forks, digging spade, cane knife and file, knapsack sprayers, oven, hand mixer, measuring spoons, measuring cups, mixing bowl, frying pans, baking trays and other baking items.
