Teenager on murder charge to spend festive season in jail

A teenager who allegedly robbed and murdered a 60-year-old taxidriver will spend the festive season in custody.

Noeli Jack Tamanikaisawau, 18, appeared before High Court judge Justice Salesi Temo in the High Court in Suva yesterday.

He allegedly robbed and murdered Satya Pillay.

The State lawyer had filed information and disclosures.

The court was told that Mr Tamanikaisawau had been remanded at the Nausori Police Station since his arrest on September 29 this year.

Justice Temo ordered that Mr Tamanikaisawau be remanded in custody until his plea hearing on January 21, 2022.

Mr Tamanikaisawau is charged with one count of murder, one count of robbery and three counts of theft.

The alleged incident happened on September 26 this year along Qiolevu Rd, Sawani.
