Cries of heartbreak filled the late Elenoa Adisavuiwasa’s parents’ home in Rakirakilevu settlement in Sigatoka where she was farewelled by close families and friends during an emotional service yesterday.
Ms Adisavuiwasa was a victim of a horrific car crash on November 6 in Wainiyabia along the Queens Rd where three children, Moses Koroibulileka, Elijah and Jemima Grace also lost their lives.
The late Department of Information senior information officer’s son, Peni Vunisa, who survived the tragic accident, was also at the funeral where he was visibly upset over the unexpected passing of his mother.
The six-year-old, who still bore the injuries from the crash, was comforted by close family members during the funeral service. Speaking on behalf of their family, a cousin of Ms Adisavuiwasa said she was an integral part of their family that had been taken away so suddenly.
He said she went out of her way to help her family and relatives when they needed help.
He said her family and the vanua were proud of her achievements and were deeply saddened by her sudden loss.
Meanwhile, Department of Information’s Viliame Tikotani said the 34-year-old would be sorely missed by her colleagues and friends.
Conveying the Minister for Information and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum’s condolences to her family, Mr Tikotani said she was a dedicated civil servant who was committed to her job.
Ms Adisavuiwasa had been a senior information officer with the Department of Information since 2016.
