24 aspiring artists wow crowd at star search quarter-finals

MEMBERS of the public last night witnessed a very competitive quarter-final battle at the KAILA! Star Search competition in Suva.

The competition featured 24 aspiring artists who had the crowd cheering loudly during each performance.

Out of the 24 artists, 15 were selected for the semi-finals which will be held next Saturday.

KAILA! Star Search competition co-ordinator Isireli Mainavukea said members of the public could expect more exciting shows as the competition between the singers and dance groups intensified towards the finale.

“We have introduced something new in the show, and that is where the singers sing one song together so that we can see how their voices blend or how well they work together in singing that particular song,” Mr Mainavukea said.

“It was really exciting and throughout the whole show there were no limitations to the kind of song the singers wanted to sing. And it has been going well.”

The show, which began in 2006, had two heats this year where 10 performers from each heat were selected for the quarter-finals.

The budding artists are James Charles, Lavenia Vuidreketi, Jone Gaunavou, Lekima Babakobau, Jed Taylor, Joseva Turaga, Mereseini Vulakoro, Fulori Radinivutulawa, Alisi Rabune, Leysina Petrina, Dawn Scott , Sons Of Mars, Zerah, Demitra Tawake, Talei Siganisucu, Seru Martin, Inosi Vono, Finau Baselala, Kurnal Verma, Joe Lee, Leane Sharon, Serah Wilson and Tarisi Niurua
