Farmers in Fiji planted 26,169 dalo plants worth $143 million between February 10, 2019, to February 10 last year according to Fiji’s census report by the Ministry of Agriculture.

In the report, 11,061 farmers in the Central Division who had 16 million dalo plants that valued at $92 million.

“There were 8715 dalo farmers in the Northern Division whose total crop value was $27 million,” the report said.

“4105 dalo farmers in the Eastern Division had 2.1 million plants and their crop was valued to be $16 million. “2 288 dalo farmers were counted in the Western Division whose total crop value was $6.3 million.

“Dalo farmers in Naitasiri had 9.5 million dalo plants that were valued to be $72 million.

“There were 4.4 million dalo plants counted in the Cakaudrove province that had a total value of $22 million.

“684,412 plants in the Macuata area were valued to be $1.7 million. 3.7 million dalo plants were counted in the Tailevu province that were valued as $11.6 million.

“In the Lomaiviti area, 869,739 dalo plants were counted that were valued to be $6.3 million. In the Bua province, 1.2 million dalo plants were valued to be $3 million.

“725,827 dalo plants on Kadavu island were valued to be $1.2 million.”
