Savusavu Town Council CEO Seema Dutt has refuted claims unvaccinated vendors were being pushed out, as suggested in a video circulating on social media platforms.
She said the video was related to a quarrel involving a vendor’s relative.
Ms Dutt said vendors were being relocated within the premises so everyone could get a fair shot at earning an income.
“Vendors are just relocated within the premises to set up the market according to the types of goods they sell,” she said.
“Previously, some vegetable vendors were located right at one corner of the market while some sat in the front of the market.
“These ladies were not able to sell their produce due to the public just buying from the front but now that they’re all together, it is convenient for customers to locate the type of product they want with choices.”
Ms Dutt said vendors were given notice and consulted before the changes were implemented.
“All vendors need to follow the by-laws for the smooth running of the market.”
