A strong wind warning remains in force for Yasawa, Northeastern Viti Levu (Dawasamu to Rakiraki), Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
According to the weather bulletin issued from the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi this morning a weakening trough of low pressure lies just to the north of Fiji and is gradually moving north away from the group.
Meanwhile, a high pressure system to the south of the country continues to direct fresh to strong southeast winds over Fiji.
Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Fiji group, expect strong southeast winds with an average speed of 45km/hr over Yasawa, northeastern Viti Levu[Dawasamu to Rakiraki], Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti group, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
Winds are expected to gradually ease to moderate to fresh over Vanua Levu and northeastern parts of Viti Levu by tomorrow.
Elsewhere, moderate to fresh southeast winds, gusty at times.
Cloudy with some showers over the eastern parts and interior of the larger islands (Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and Kadavu) and the Lau and Lomaiviti group.
Mainly fine weather elsewhere and cool nights.
For mariners, expect rough to very rough seas.
Outlook for Sunday, expect cloudy periods with brief showers over the interior and eastern parts of the main islands (Viti Levu and Vanua Levu), Lau and Lomaiviti group.
