Weather watch: Heavy swell alert remains in force

A heavy swell alert remains in force for the coastal areas of the Southwest and Southern Viti Levu from Nadi to Natadola, to Coral Coast, to Suva and up to Rewa.

The alert is also in force for Southern coastal areas of Kadavu, Beqa, Vatulele, Southern Lomaiviti and Southern Lau group.

In its weather bulletin issued at 7.30pm, the national weather forecasting centre in Nadi has also maintained the strong wind warning in force for the land areas of Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, Southern Lau group and southern parts of Lomaiviti group.

According to Fiji Met, there is an eastward-moving trough of low pressure with cloud and showers and forecast to affect the eastern parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the weatherman says a high pressure system to the far Southwest of Fiji is expected to generate and direct heavy swells over the Southern coastal areas of Viti Levu, Kadavu, Beqa, Vatulele, Southern Lomaiviti and Southern Lau group from early Monday.
